Sample Preparation

Amino acid analysis is extremely sensitive to contaminants in the sample matrix. The client should take the utmost care in preparing their samples to help insure the lowest degree of contamination and the most accurate quantitation possible. All chemicals and reagents with which the sample comes in contact should be of the highest purity possible. In addition, the client should always wear non-powdered latex gloves during the preparation of their samples to avoid contamination from "finger" amino acids (glycine and serine). Please call the PCL with any questions regarding proper sample preparation and handling. Remember that high salts, glycerol, lipids and amines (especially Tris) will interfere with the assay chemistry and chromatography.
